A premium synthetic industrial gear oil (ISO VG 220) formulated on polyglycol base fluids for heavily loaded gears, especially worm gears, spur, bevel, and planetary gear sets, designed for high-temperature operation and extreme pressure applications — supplied in a 208 L drum for large industrial installations.

Description

Castrol Optigear Synthetic 1300/220 is a high-performance synthetic gear oil engineered for the lubrication of highly loaded gear systems and anti-friction bearings in severe service conditions. It differs from conventional mineral gear oils by offering excellent oxidation and thermal stability, outstanding shearing stability, and consistent viscosity-temperature behavior, enabling it to perform reliably at elevated operating and reservoir temperatures.

The formulation uses polyglycol base fluids, which are selected for their chemical and thermal stability and for compatibility with typical machine metals. The oil demonstrates excellent load-carrying capacity, extreme pressure performance, and protection against wear and scuffing, making it well suited for industrial gearboxes with mixed loads and temperatures. It is compatible with most industrial elastomer seals, though care should be taken with certain materials such as neoprene and butadiene-based elastomers.

Available in a 208 L drum, this grade is ideal for large industrial gear systems, circulating gear oil installations, or settings where frequent re-fill isn’t practical.

Key Features & Benefits

  • ISO VG 220 viscosity: Optimised for heavy-duty gear lubrication across a broad temperature range.

  • High oxidation & thermal stability: Reduces oil degradation at elevated temperatures.

  • Outstanding load-carrying ability & extreme pressure performance: Helps protect gears under shock loads and high stress.

  • Excellent shear stability: Maintains viscosity and performance under mechanical stress.

  • Compatible with most industrial seal materials: Simplifies use in a variety of gearboxes (avoid certain elastomers like neoprene).

  • Long service life: Synthetic base and additives help extend oil change intervals and reduce maintenance.
