Description
Castrol Alphasyn GS 680 is a premium synthetic gear lubricant formulated on advanced polyalkylene glycol (PAG) base fluids combined with antioxidant, rust-inhibiting, and Extreme Pressure (EP) additives for high thermal stability and gear protection.
It delivers superior performance compared with conventional mineral oils, making it especially suitable for high-temperature applications such as large-scale mills, calenders, worm gear drives subjected to high torque at low speeds, and other demanding industrial gear systems.
The formulation helps reduce frictional losses, lowering energy consumption and sump temperatures, and minimizes sludge and deposit formation for extended drain and change intervals.
Alphasyn GS 680 meets DIN 51517 Part 3 CLP industrial gear oil standards and supports wide-temperature service capabilities with continuous operation up to about 150 °C and short-term peaks up to 220 °C.
Key Features
-
Fully synthetic PAG base: Superior friction and load performance vs. conventional oils.
-
ISO VG 680 viscosity: Thick film strength for heavy-duty and severe duty gear systems.
-
High thermal & oxidative stability: Helps reduce sludge and extend oil life.
-
CLP classification (DIN 51517 Part 3): Industrial gear oil quality designation.
-
Reduced friction and energy use: Lower operating and sump temperatures.
-
Wide operating temperature range: Reliable protection from low ambient up to high gear temperatures.
Applications
Ideal for industrial enclosed gearboxes, large scale mills, calenders, worm reduction gear sets, and high-temperature drives where robust synthetic lubrication improves efficiency, protects against wear, and supports extended maintenance intervals in heavy-load and high-heat conditions.
