Castrol Aircol SR 46 Rotary compressor oil VDL 20L canister

985.70 AED

A fully synthetic rotary screw air compressor lubricant with ISO VG 46 viscosity, formulated on a polyalphaolefin (PAO) base and classified under DIN 51506 VDL — supplied in a 20 L canister, designed for oil‑flooded rotary screw compressors operating under both normal and severe duty conditions

Description

Castrol Aircol SR 46 is a premium synthetic air compressor oil engineered for oil‑flooded rotary screw compressors, offering excellent thermal and oxidative stability and outstanding protection against wear, deposits, and oxidation. Its PAO synthetic base enables the lubricant to maintain performance at elevated air discharge temperatures — making it suitable for compressors running in harsh environments and under heavy loads as well as typical industrial duty.

Under normal operating conditions (air discharge ≤ 100 °C), Aircol SR 46 can support extended drain intervals up to around 8 000 hours, helping reduce maintenance frequency and downtime. It also exhibits very low deposit‑forming tendencies, which helps extend the service life of filters and separators.

This grade is DIN 51506 VDL compliant and meets ISO 6743‑3 (DAG, DAH, DAJ) industrial standards for rotary air compressor oils. It is recognised by major OEMs such as Atlas Copco and Kaeser.

Key Features

  • Synthetic PAO base: Provides superior oxidation resistance and longer lubricant life compared with mineral oils.

  • ISO VG 46 viscosity: Balanced film strength for effective lubrication in rotary compressors.

  • Extended drain capability: Up to ~8 000 hours under normal service conditions.

  • Very low deposit formation: Keeps separator elements and filters cleaner longer.

  • Outstanding thermal and oxidative stability: Reduces breakdown at high temperatures.

  • Excellent water separation: Allows condensate to separate readily, minimising emulsion issues.

  • Good seal compatibility: Works with nitrile, silicone, polyurethane and fluoropolymer seals (not recommended with SBR/EPDM).

  • Ester‑free formulation: Minimises corrosive acid formation, helping protect compressor internals.

Typical Specifications

  • ISO Viscosity Grade: 46 (VG 46)

  • Kinematic Viscosity @ 40 °C: ~46 mm²/s

  • Kinematic Viscosity @ 100 °C: ~7.8 mm²/s

  • Viscosity Index: ~137

  • Flash Point (open cup): ~264 °C

  • Pour Point: ~‑54 °C

  • Density @ 15 °C: ~0.84 g/mL

Typical Applications

  • Oil‑flooded rotary screw compressors in industrial environments.

  • Compressors with elevated air discharge temperatures (> 100 °C) or heavy duty cycles.

  • Systems requiring longer oil drain intervals, reduced maintenance, and improved operational reliability.

Benefits

  • Extended equipment and lubricant life through superior oxidation resistance.

  • Reduced servicing frequency and downtime due to long drain potential.

  • Cleaner oil and components thanks to low deposit formation and excellent water separation.

  • Wider operating temperature tolerance versus conventional compressor oils.
